Norwich
Newton, MA- The Lasers faced Norwich University on Saturday afternoon, losing game one 5-0 and winning game two 5-4.
Game 1-
Lasell couldn't generate much offensively in Game 1, falling 5–0 despite a solid effort in the circle from Shyanne Raccio.
The Lasers were limited to just three hits on the day, with Alyssa Bland, Riley Michael, and Emma Tarleton each recording one. Tarleton's knock and Bland's single accounted for most of the team's limited traffic, while Sophie Arena contributed with a sacrifice and a stolen base. However, Lasell struggled to string together quality at-bats, leaving three runners on base and failing to produce a run.
In the circle, Raccio kept Lasell competitive through much of the game, tossing 6.2 innings while striking out eight. Despite allowing five runs on six hits and three walks, she battled through multiple tough innings and limited further damage. Abigail Fortin came on in relief to record the final out.
Game 2-
Lasell responded in Game 2 with a much stronger all-around performance, earning a 5–4 win behind timely hitting and a complete game in the circle from Fortin.
Offensively, the Lasers found their rhythm early and did a better job capitalizing on opportunities. Bland led the way with a two-hit performance and two RBIs, while Fortin helped her own cause with an RBI knock. Adreanna Ventullo added an RBI double, and Madalen Brown and Tarleton each chipped in with a hit as Lasell totaled six on the game. Speed on the bases played a major role, with Lasell swiping five bags. Bland, Ashlyn McCampbell, Emily Stilwell, and Arena, who had two stolen bases and scored twice, kept constant pressure on the defense and helped create scoring chances throughout.
In the circle, Fortin went the distance, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out five. She worked through some defensive miscues behind her, as Lasell committed four errors, but limited the damage enough to secure the win. Despite a couple of wild pitches, Fortin remained composed in key moments to close out the game.
