Nichols Tops Baseball 6-3
Waltham, Mass. (4/14/16) The Lasell Baseball team fell to Nichols College 6-3 Thursday night at Stein Diamond on the campus of Brandeis University. The Lasers dip to 9-12 with the setback, while the Bison improve to 12-10 this season.

Senior Skylar Beckerman (Pensacola, Fla.) led the Lasers with two hits including an RBI double in the effort. Freshmen Evan Michalek (Berlin, Conn.) and Brett Sherron (Howard Beach, N.Y.) contributed key singles for Lasell, with Michalek recording a single RBI.
Junior Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Roy (Middletown, Conn.) smacked three hits each and drove in a run. Junior Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) delivered the eventual game-winning, two-run double in the top of 8th for the Bison.
Both starting pitchers started the day off strong, until the top of the third when the Bison pushed three runs across the board on a cluster of hits led by RBI singles by Hardy and senior Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) Beckerman began a rally in the 6th inning with a double, while Michalek earned an RBI single to pull within a run of the Bison. Beckerman helped to push across the game-tying run in the 7th on a fielder's choice to score junior Hector Coscione (Newton, Mass.).
In the top of 8th, Ford ripped the eventual game-winning double with the bases loaded that sent two runners home to take a 5-3 lead. The Bison pushed an insurance run across in the top of the 9th on a sacrifice fly by Hardy.
Junior Dan Berger (Meriden, Conn.) allowed three runs on seven hits over three innings while starting pitcher for the Bison, freshman Thomas Hyland (Nashua, NH) allowed two runs on six hits over five 2/3 innings. Junior Matt Haskell (Wallingford, Conn.) came on for the Lasers throwing three perfect innings, striking out two Bison in the outing.
The Lasers will travel to Anna Maria for a GNAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 16 with first pitched slated for 1:00 p.m.
